On July 3, 2012 there was a HUGE fire in Alpine which consumed thousands of acres that started just 200 meters from one of the Dirty Spur Cattle Company pastures. Fortunately, Mike New and brother-in-law, Scott Christensen were able to jump into action in order to save the herd. As fire consumed the edges of the ranch and over 5 acres inside the fences, Mike and Scott were able to help direct fire fighters to places where the fire needed to be put out in order to save the herd.
Just hours after the fire started, Mike New, John Legge and Scott Christensen were able to successfully evacuate every cow from the pasture before they were consumed by the immense fire. Pictures taken that day are haunting and many fire fighters are to thank for all their faithful service. We’re grateful to have our cattle back safe and sound.
